What is a masquerade?

If you’ve seen Phantom of the Opera, you know what a masquerade ball is.  Everyone gets dressed up in fancy clothes (and sometimes costumes), all wearing masks.  The idea is to be someone else for the night; have fun without revealing your identity.

 

Just to clarify, this is not a costume party.  Don’t come dressed up as Spider-Man or a dead cheerleader.  Dress for a formal ball.  But that doesn’t mean you can’t get creative with your costume. 

 

Despite the classical nature of this event, this is basically just a college dance.  The only thing that will be different from what you’re used to will be the way everyone will be dressed.  Get your masks and outfits ready for this fabulous night of shameless masquerading!
